Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Santa Ana, CA is hiring a Plant Operator to work on a rotating 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift. This role requires safe operation of plant equipment, accurate documentation, and strict sanitation compliance.

You will be responsible for maintaining fill weights, packaging integrity, and sample handling while adhering to Master Sanitation Program standards. English literacy and ability to work in a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have valid CDPH Cannery Operator's License; or obtain license during training within two testing opportunities/30 days and a valid Pasteurizers License or obtain one within 90 days.
• Must have working knowledge of sanitation process, maintain a clean workstation during at all times.
• Able to be company certified user of material handling equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, barrel trucks, reel dollies, and reel clamps.
• Ability to use and understand Plant equipment.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Operate Plant Equipment in a safe and efficient manner including problem recognition.
• Maintain proper operation of fill weights; adjust as necessary.
• Complete all required documentation accurately, thoroughly and CCP documentation is flawless.
• Complete required package integrity checks.
• Operate and clean package coding equipment; maintain ink.
• Pull lab samples and keep accurate samples.
• Handle all packaging material in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Complete all material splices safely and efficiently.
• Change gaskets, perform valve maintenance and change sterile air filters as needed.
• Clean conveyors and filler room interiors/exteriors.
• Perform PMs and services on pumps, valves, tanks, homogenizers, VTIS equipment and fillers.
• Maintain proper chemical levels (hydrogen peroxide, caustic, acid).
• Complete sanitation duties under Master Sanitation Program and document as required.
• Assist downstream packaging equipment operators as needed.
• Reset all Plant Codes and fill out Plant Code Change forms.
• Run shift in supervisor absence and coordinate daily production activities.
• Any other duties designated by foreman.

• Maintain proper levels in the hydrogen peroxide, caustic and acid
• Complete assigned sanitation responsibilities and document as required by the Master Sanitation Program to maintain area sanitation requirements.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Production or general work experienced preferred
• Knowledge of plant operations
