Job summary

LJ Inc. is seeking an experienced Vac Truck Operator for our Underbore Department in Michigan.

The ideal candidate will operate vac trucks and hydraulic jetter systems to thoroughly clean underground assets, and support field activities with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance. Responsibilities include inspections, equipment transport, documentation, and teamwork to meet project goals while maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years' hands-on experience operating vac trucks.
• CDL Class B with tanker endorsement required.
• Safety-first mindset with ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to assist department as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate vac trucks and hydraulic jetter systems to clean underground assets per specifications.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and basic field maintenance.
• Transport equipment to project sites and assist onsite as needed.
• Use fall protection, gas detection, and ventilation gear in confined or hazardous spaces.
• Complete time sheets, logs, and reports within deadlines.
• Maintain a safe, clean workspace and proper equipment care.
• Collaborate with crew members to meet project goals.

Our team is looking to add an experienced Vac Truck Operator to our Underbore Department, the ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience operating and a willingness to assist the department as necessary.

Essential Job Functions:

• Abide by all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required PPE for your safety.
• Operate vac trucks and hydraulic jetter systems to thoroughly clean a range of underground asset including small and large diameter pipes, vaults, and tanks ensuring all work meets technical specifications and safety standards.
• Conduct detailed pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, monitor equipment performance throughout the day, and perform minor field maintenance or troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
• Safely transport vac equipment to and from project locations, including towing off-road or easement-access tools as required for specific site conditions.
• Access and clean underground structures using fall protection systems, gas detection monitors, and ventilation gear while following strict safety protocols in confined or hazardous environments.
• Collaborate closely with fellow crew members to coordinate field activities, maintain job site safety, and ensure each task is completed efficiently and in alignment with project goals.
• Accurately complete required documentation including time sheets, equipment logs, and cleaning reports within established timelines to support operational tracking and compliance.
• Maintain a safe and clean workspace, including the Company\'s equipment and vehicles.
• Manage hydrovac trucks and equipment for non-destructive excavation around sensitive underground utilities.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 2+ years\' experience.
• Push/pull objects and carry/lift objects up to 50 pounds.
• Safety-oriented.
• Valid CDL class B with tanker endorsement.
