Job summary

GardaWorld Security Services is seeking a Surveillance Security Officer in Arlington, VA. The role focuses on detecting threats through CCTV monitoring, access control, and detailed reporting.

You will work across security post duties, event crowd control, and collaboration with property management to ensure safety and smooth operations. The position requires standing/walking 8+ hours, weekend/overnight shifts, and adherence to uniform standards.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• 2+ years of Security/Military/Law Enforcement experience preferred.
• Active Virginia DCJS security license required.
• Experience with incident reports (DAR reports) and security systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service with a Front of House mindset.
• Monitor CCTV and security systems; respond to incidents.
• Maintain precise, legally robust incident reports.
• Manage access control and verify visitor IDs.

What matters most about a role like this is your sharp eye, capturing every detail as you scan a series of screens. Tell us about your strong observation skills with attention to detail.

As a Security Officer – Surveillance, you will be the person spotting threats before they elevate in environments such as a security operations centers, call centers, parking gatehouses, etc.

• Site Location and Type: Arlington, VA / Multi Story High Profile Building
• Scheduling will be based on site needs. Candidate must have the ability to walk and stand for 8+ hours.Candidate must have the ability to work weekends andovernights as well as other shifts whenneeded. Holidays may be needed to work. Days on/ off will vary based on site needs. Not guaranteed full time hours.

Responsibilities of Surveillance Security Guard

• Exceptional Customer Service and Front of House mindset
• Professionalism in appearance, conduct, and communication
• Effective oral and written communication skills (to include report writing)
• Tech Savvy, comfortable learning intricate security and building systems
• Ability to multitask and prioritize
• Understand basic security principles
• Ability to remain calm and respond to incidents/elevated situations

Maintain expert, up-to-date knowledge of all site-specific post orders, corporate policies, and security protocols through proactive and frequent operational reviews.

Professionally navigate and utilize complex security operations systems, including digital ticketing platforms, designated email boxes, corporate messenger chats, and electronic incident reporting software.

Author highly detailed, accurate, and legally robust incident reports immediately following any security anomalies, medical emergencies, or facility breaches.

Manage high-volume access control and alarm monitoring systems, verify visitor identification, issue and print corporate badges, and strictly enforce building entry protocols to prevent tailgating.

Conduct active CCTVcamera monitoring and remain fully prepared to execute precise, immediate protocols upon receiving any system alarms or security alerts.

Memorize and maintain a flawless understanding of response protocols for all system alerts, fire alarms, duress alarms, and emergency evacuation steps.

Maintain seamless, professional radio and walkie-talkie communication, adhering to proper codes and clear transmission etiquette at all times.

Collaborate directly with property management to streamline parking requests, coordinate facility logistics, and manage authorized access for tenants and guests.

Execute strategic crowd control and monitoring measures during high-profile corporate events to ensure participant safety and orderly foot traffic.

Maintain unwavering situational awareness and physical oversight of all facility entrances, exits, and perimeters while upholding strict uniform etiquette and a professional demeanor at all times.

Successfully cross-train across all security posts and desk roles, demonstrating total operational agility to seamlessly pivot between duties as required by the site.

Qualifications of Surveillance Security Guard

• You have a high school education or equivalent (GED)
• You’re able to ace (and pass) an extensive screening process
• You have Security, Military, and/or Law Enforcement experience of at least 2 years or more
• You have an active Virginia DCJS security license
• You are at least 21 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements
• Must have experience utilizing Microsoft applications or Google applications, and Security Systems. Must have experience with Incident/ DAR reports
