Security Clearance: Active SECRET Clearance Required (TS/SCI Eligibility Required)

Position Overview
Check Defense is a fast-growing federal contractor seeking a highly capable UxS Technician to support the assembly, integration, testing, operation, maintenance, repair, and sustainment of unmanned systems and associated mission payloads. This position provides hands‑on technical support for Group 1 and Group 2 unmanned systems utilized in operational testing, training, demonstrations, experimentation, and fielding activities.
The UxS Technician will work closely with engineers, software developers, operators, and Government stakeholders to configure, troubleshoot, modify, and maintain unmanned systems and supporting equipment. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience building, integrating, and sustaining unmanned platforms while supporting both laboratory and field‑based operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Experience with Group 1/2 UxS assembly, integration, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair
- Experience with commercially available UxS desirable
- Extensive knowledge of BetaFlight, ArduPilot, and PX4 (5 years)
- Extensive drone‑building experience (5 years)
- Knowledge of electronic propulsion and combustible power systems (5 years)
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical assemblies
- Familiarity with analog/digital circuits, AC/DC electronics, and test equipment
- Experience selecting electronic parts and sensors
- Comfortable working in shop environments and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Skilled with power and hand tools
- CAD proficiency for rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing
- Experience with multiple 3D printing technologies
- Skilled in soldering and desoldering
- Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain systems
- Familiarity with C, C++, Python, IDEs, compilers, and hardware debuggers.
Required Qualifications
- US. Citizen.
- Active SECRET Security Clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering/science discipline; or equivalent technician experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience with a degree or seven (7) years of relevant experience without a degree.
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and technical problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Group 1 and Group 2 unmanned-system assembly, integration, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Experience working with commercially available unmanned systems and supporting technologies.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with BetaFlight, ArduPilot, PX4, or comparable flight‑control systems.
- Extensive drone‑building and custom platform integration experience.
- Experience with electronic propulsion systems and combustible power systems.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with analog and digital circuits, AC/DC electronics, and electronic test equipment.
- Experience selecting, integrating, and evaluating electronic components and sensors.
- CAD proficiency supporting rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing.
- Experience utilizing multiple additive‑manufacturing and 3D‑printing technologies.
- Skilled in soldering, de‑soldering, wiring, and electronics assembly.
- Familiarity with C, C++, Python, integrated development environments (IDEs), compilers, and hardware‑debugging tools.
- Experience operating in military, Special Operations, or defense‑related environments.

- Operating in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions during testing and operational events.
- Traveling domestically and internationally in support of testing, demonstrations, deployments, and fielding activities.
- Supporting extended‑duration field operations in austere environments.
- Safely operating hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, fabrication equipment, and unmanned systems.
Travel
- CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for testing, exercises, demonstrations, deployments, and fielding activities
