Job description

Grant and government-funded organizations are in crisis Budgets are tightening, complexity is rising, and too much time is spent administering systems instead of driving real outcomes.

Eddi exists to fix that.

We build an AI-native platform that helps non‑profits, school districts, and other government‑funded organizations discover funding, apply for it, manage it, budget it, and report on it with far less friction. The result: more dollars captured, better decisions made, and more impact delivered.

We believe AI should reduce administrative burden so humans can focus on high‑value work. If you’re excited about designing tools that matter, not just dashboards that look nice, you’ll feel at home here.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Designer who can flex into other areas such as content, and marketing and grow into a leadership role at Eddi. They will drive the end‑to‑end product experience of a complex, data‑heavy, AI‑driven platform and make it feel intuitive, powerful, and human.

You’ll work closely with the CEO, and engineering to design workflows used daily by school administrators, finance leaders, and grant managers. This is not a “make it pretty” role. You’ll be shaping how users think, decide, and act inside the product.

As Eddi grows, you’ll help define our design language, interaction patterns, and overall product feel, and drive our external voice and brand.

What you'll do
  • Own Product Design: Lead UX/UI design across core workflows, from grant discovery and writing to budgeting, reporting, and scenario planning.
  • Design for Complexity: Turn dense financial, grant, and outcomes data into interfaces that are clear, navigable, and decision‑ready.
  • AI‑Native UX: Design experiences that thoughtfully integrate AI suggestions, copilots, and automation without overwhelming users.
  • Collaborate Deeply: Work tightly with engineers and product to ship real features, not just concepts.
  • User‑Centered Iteration: Incorporate feedback from real school districts and government users and iterate quickly.
  • Design Systems: Help build and maintain a scalable design system that balances speed with consistency.
  • Raise the Bar: Influence product quality and set expectations for UX excellence across the company.
What We're Looking for
  • 3+ years of UX/UI design experience on modern web applications.
  • Strong portfolio showing complex workflows, not just marketing sites.
  • Fluency in tools like Figma and comfort collaborating directly with engineers.
  • Solid grasp of interaction design, information architecture, and usability principles.
  • Strong communication to drive marketing collateral.
  • Product mindset: you care about outcomes, not just artifacts.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity and moving fast in a startup environment.
  • Clear communicator who can explain design decisions and tradeoffs.
Bonus points if you have
  • Experience designing data‑heavy or financial products.
  • Familiarity with AI‑driven interfaces or productivity tools.
  • Experience working with public sector, education, or mission‑driven organizations.
  • Compensation based on the individual, target $60 per hour for ~20 hours per week or a full‑time role if you can take on other key marketing and content responsibilities.
  • Hybrid role based in the Boston metropolitan area
  • Meaningful ownership over a product with real societal impact
