Job description

O3 — a design and technology consulting firm that helps companies use data and AI to work smarter and grow faster. We partner with marketing and technology leaders to solve real problems, improve operations, and create better digital experiences. With support from our dedicated AI practice, O3XO, we turn ideas into practical solutions that deliver results for your team and your customers.

O3 is also the team behind the 1682 Conference, an AI and innovation conference that serves as an anchor for our thought leadership work.

Why we need you:
  • We’re looking for a UX/UI designer to join our team as a contractor, working sprint by sprint alongside our lead designer/advisor, who scopes and oversees the work.
  • Engagements run in roughly 4-week sprints at 8–16 hours/week, then roll into the next sprint or project as new needs come up.
  • This is an ad hoc, as‑needed role: you’ll move across different client projects, picking up feature requests, support work, and defined deliverables rather than owning end-to-end strategy.
  • You’ll report into and be guided by the lead/senior advisor on each engagement, who sets direction and manages client relationships. Your focus is executing well within that scope.
Who you are:
  • A reliable contributor who can be brought onto a sprint on short notice and ramp quickly.
  • Comfortable taking direction and a defined scope, and turning it into clean wireframes, flows, or visual designs.
  • Solid visual taste and attention to detail, with the ability to execute polished, usable interfaces from clear direction.
  • Curious, adaptable, and open to feedback. You stay current with modern design tools and workflows, including emerging AI tools that support research, ideation, documentation, and production.
  • A positive team player who thrives moving between projects in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.
What you’ll do:
  • Execute design work within sprint‑based engagements (4 weeks, 8–16 hrs/wk), under the direction of the lead advisor on each project.
  • Produce UX deliverables — wireframes, user flows, and supporting documentation — for defined feature requests and project needs.
  • Create visual design deliverables including high‑fidelity comps, UI kit components, and design system elements.
  • Take work from early exploration through execution and development handoff, as scoped by the lead.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the lead advisor, project managers, researchers, and developers to deliver on assigned work.
  • Use modern design tools, including AI‑assisted workflows where appropriate, to improve efficiency and delivery.
  • Flex across multiple concurrent or sequential client projects as sprint needs shift.
What you need to be successful:
  • 4–6+ years of experience in UX, UI, product design, or a closely related field.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating design work across websites, applications, or digital products.
  • Experience creating low‑fidelity wireframes, user flows, and information architecture deliverables.
  • A track record of producing quality UI design work, including high‑fidelity screens and component‑based systems.
  • Ability to apply direction from research findings, stakeholder input, or usability insights provided by the lead advisor or research team.
  • Solid visual design skills, including typography, layout, hierarchy, spacing, color, accessibility, and responsive design.
  • Familiarity with design systems, component libraries, and scalable file organization.
  • Comfort preparing design files for development handoff, including specs, annotations, and interaction notes.
  • Familiarity with AI‑powered tools and how they can support design exploration, synthesis, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Motion graphics experience a plus, including animation and micro‑interactions.
  • Availability to flex on and off projects on a sprint cadence, sometimes with short lead time.
What we consider nice‑to‑have:
  • Comfortable with analytics and CRO design principles.
Who we are:
  • We are confident. We are partners that align to each organization’s needs, and we’re confident that leads to the best work. We’re bold and sure of ourselves, but not pushy or aggressive.
  • We are energetic. Atoms and molecules vibrate together, and so do we. We’re great collaborators and have infectious curiosity.
  • We are approachable. We want to work with our partners to have a shared understanding and provide insight.
  • We are ready to roll. We’re always put together and have a plan. We show up to a pitch polished but ready to get in the weeds to learn our clients' needs and come up with solutions.
Our values:
  • We apply optimism by sharing our enthusiasm, positivity, and good nature one person at a time.
  • We trust in people and treat others with openness and respect.
  • We commit to the communities we serve by focusing on values and culture alignment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion both inside and outside our company.
  • We embrace iteration and believe in a world where opportunity for continuous improvement requires a strong sense of flexibility and willingness to grow.
  • We focus on the future for ourselves and our clients, pushing boundaries and staying on the cutting edge.

At O3, we hire those who share our values, believe in our culture, and are driven to succeed in an AI‑enhanced world. We're here to create meaningful experiences and long‑lasting relationships, and none of that is possible without a diverse team and an inclusive environment where you can do your best work.

We welcome you to come as you are regardless of race, color, religion, creed, citizenship, national origin, age, sex, gender, pregnancy, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, marital status, disability (including neurodiversity), genetic information, or veteran status. We are committed to compliance with all laws and regulations relating to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and harassment.
