Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Flexion in Madison, WI seeks an experienced UX Designer to lead client projects, translating user needs into scalable interfaces within an agile team. You’ll drive discovery, prototyping, testing, and design systems, balancing strategy with pragmatic delivery.
Bring 8+ years of UX for clients, strong collaboration, and a track record of complex product outcomes. You’ll mentor teammates and champion user-centered design to improve usability and impact.
We're looking for a UX Designer with an unwavering passion for designing meaningful, easy-to-use applications. Most of the work we do is on large-scale, enterprise-wide systems (both commercial and government)-this project in particular will help ensure the uninterrupted, secure, and compliant operation of critical federal acquisition and assistance systems. At Flexion (an agile software company that's been delivering excellence for over 25 years), our company culture is built on autonomy, trust, and transparency. We empower teams to remain self-sufficient and self-directed by hiring people who can solve complex problems through collaboration-this means lending a hand and flexing your multi-skilled muscles ([adjacent skills for role], etc.) as needed. Every member of a cross-functional team is a leader who takes responsibility for the entire team's success, mirroring the company's overall low-bureaucracy structure. We believe that growth comes from working together-and that includes supporting each other through thoughtful, constructive feedback. Flexion team members are expected to help each other grow, challenge ideas respectfully, and integrate feedback as a normal part of the workday.
As a member of a cross-functional agile development team, you'll partner with our clients to tackle holistic issues. You'll facilitate tough conversations about what clients (and their users!) really need, which isn't always what they want. You'll work to build UX thinking into everything the team does. Specifically, you'll:
You are a master of applying human centered design techniques using a startup mentality. You prefer to incrementally drive learning and development, from strategy to surface details, through authentic use and rapid iteration. You have experience with, and understand the principles of Lean UX. You love solving big problems. You can balance high-level strategy with detail-oriented tactics. You're just as at home leading a discovery session with C-level executives as you are sketching prototype ideas or writing user stories. You can speak "developer" and co-create designs and solutions throughout the process. You're a self-starter and don't need to be told what to do next. You have a wide range of UX-related skills and can flex different muscles as required. You know how to create and implement design systems and value consistency-but also know when to make adjustments to improve usability. You value data-driven decision-making, but won't become paralyzed if the data doesn't exist. You understand that often "good enough" is as good as it can get and can live with compromise where it's needed. You embrace agile methodologies preferring to delay design decisions until they need to be prioritized. You design small pieces, while still thinking about how they fit into the whole.
The salary range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000.
