Job summary

Modus Digital is seeking a UX Designer- Contractor to partner with our Experience Design team on a diverse set of client projects. You will shape strategy, conduct user research, and translate findings into actionable UX artifacts across devices and platforms.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams, leveraging AI-enabled design and productivity tools to deliver thoughtful, human-centered digital experiences. Strong portfolio, collaboration, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

3–5 years of UX design experience in digital consultancy, agency, or product-focused org.
College degree or equivalent in communications, marketing, cognitive science, research, design, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
Strong portfolio showing user-centered solutions across devices and platforms.
Mastery of core UX deliverables: research findings, personas, journeys, sitemaps, flows, wireframes, prototypes, data visualizations, specs.
Experience uncovering user needs, defining UX problems, and translating insights into simple, powerful digital experiences.
Experience with complex data apps, data sources, data models, and user-friendly data visualizations.
Knowledge of user research methods across product lifecycle, from discovery to usability testing.
Experience interviewing stakeholders, product teams, engineers, and end users (tech and non-tech).
Ability to modernize legacy products with a clear UX vision.
Experience with component-based enterprise design systems and Agile scrum teams.
Proficiency with UX/design tools (Figma, Adobe Suite) and organization of structured design files for handoff and AI workflows.
Familiarity with AI tools and workflows supporting UX, prototyping, synthesis, and collaboration (e.g., Figma Make, Claude).
Strong understanding of UX principles, information architecture, interaction, accessibility, and emerging tech.
Excellent communication, collaboration, writing, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

Shape creative strategy and UX direction for digital products and experiences.
Participate in discovery: stakeholder interviews, user research, analytics review, and needs analysis.
Synthesize research into clear insights, opportunities, and recommendations.
Develop personas, journeys, sitemaps, flows, wireframes, prototypes, and functional specs.
Conduct UX heuristic audits of existing software, websites, and digital products.
Design annotated wireframes and prototypes to align stakeholders and guide development.
Structure information architecture, navigation, taxonomies, components, and data-driven experiences.
Design across conversational UI, responsive websites, large templated sites, native apps, enterprise platforms.
Collaborate with product owners, UI designers, content strategists, engineers, PMs, account teams, and client stakeholders.
Present research and design recommendations clearly to internal teams and clients.
Work independently with remote cross-functional teams, managing priorities and deadlines.
Report progress, risks, and dependencies; contribute to project planning.
Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
