Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center in New Jersey is seeking a Utilization Review Specialist to join our corporate team. This on-site role supports authorization, clinical documentation integrity, and care coordination across facilities.

You will work with billing and clinical staff to ensure timely approvals, maintain accurate electronic records, and contribute to process improvements across sites. 1 year of health care/UR experience is preferred, with training available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Nursing background, clinical background or healthcare knowledge strongly preferred.
• 1 year of experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or treatment setting preferred.
• Experience with utilization review, insurance authorization, or medical billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Field calls, emails, and documentation requests related to client authorizations.
• Ensure timely approval and continuation of services at appropriate level of care.
• Manage client caseloads and support authorization workflows across facilities.
• Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to resolve authorization issues.
