Job summary

AMN Healthcare is seeking a Utilization Review Nurse / Discharge Planner in California. The role includes assessing medical necessity, coordinating care, securing authorizations, and facilitating discharge planning while ensuring regulatory compliance. Must have CA RN license and ADN, with 4+ years of acute care or discharge planning experience.

Position is a 13-week assignment with hours 8:00am - 4:30pm. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401K among others. Start ASAP.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California in good standing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Minimum 4 years of recent clinical nursing experience in acute care, case management, utilization review, or discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Assess medical necessity and appropriateness of healthcare services using InterQual, MCG, and payer guidelines.
• Coordinate patient care across the continuum and secure authorizations.
• Monitor resource utilization and length of stay; facilitate discharge planning and manage denials/appeals.
