Job summary

City of Salina seeks an Utility Worker I in the Utilities Department to support water distribution and wastewater systems. The role involves installing and repairing pipelines, valves, manholes, service lines, and related mechanical work to ensure safe, efficient water services for Salina residents.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and about two years of related maintenance experience. Training will be provided; opportunity for advancement to higher utility roles exists within

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years’ utility construction, plumbing, mechanical & electrical equipment maintenance or related work preferred.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs, and inspects wastewater/water pipelines.
• Maintains wastewater pumps, motors, and controls.
• Installs and repairs valves and manholes as well as service lines.
• Performs minor electrical and mechanical maintenance.
• Perform custodial tasks such as cleaning, painting, lawn mowing, and snow removal.
• Set up and take-down traffic control signs and barricades; data entry for work orders.
