Utility Worker

About this Job: General Summary of Position: The Utility Worker is responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas equipment and utensils. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below but MedStar/Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine.
• May wash pots.
• Washes work tables walls refrigerators and meat blocks.
• Sweeps mops cleans and vacuums floors.
• Removes trash and garbage to designated areas.
• Transfers supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room.
• Cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.
• Polishes silver.
• Attends all allergy and food-borne illness in-service training.
• Complies with all MedStar/Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
• Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
• Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
• Participates in regular safety meetings safety training and hazard assessments.
• Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards.
• Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate.
• Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Prior work experience not required.
• Knowledge, skills and abilities: must have good verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. Must present self in a highly professional manner to others and have the ability to uphold honesty and ethics in the workplace, have the ability to maintain a positive attitude and the ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect. Must be able to maintain a professional relationship with all coworkers vendor representatives supervisors managers customers and client representatives and the ability to provide clear directions and responses to co-workers.

Position has a hiring range of :USD $18.00 - USD $29.74 /Hr.
