Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Utility Worker to support loading/unloading, equipment operation, and material handling in our facility. The role emphasizes maintaining cleanliness and safety while ensuring smooth production flow.

Responsibilities include operating machinery, inspecting products for quality, and coordinating with maintenance as needed. Candidates should be able to lift up to 100 lbs, and travel to off-site locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with clean MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Operates machinery used in production or assists machine operators.
  • Places products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing and inspecting.
  • Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Starts machines or equipment to begin production processes.
  • Observes equipment operations to detect malfunctions and notifies supervisor or maintenance.
  • Lifts raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually.
  • Transfers finished or raw material between storage and work areas by hand or forklift.
  • Packs and stores materials and products.
  • Marks and tags products.
  • Dispenses materials into machine hoppers prior to mixing.
  • Mixes ingredients according to procedures or formulas.
  • Uses standard hand tools and power tools.

A Utility Worker is responsible for loading and unloading of raw material/finished product as well as cleanliness of plant and equipment.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Loadsand unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.

  • Operatesmachinery used in production process orassistmachine operators.

  • Placesproducts in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing,inspectingand wrapping

  • Examinesproducts to verify conformance to quality standards

  • Startsmachines or equipment to begin production processes

  • Observesequipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify operators,supervisoror maintenance of any malfunctions

  • Removesproducts or waste material from machines

  • Liftsraw materials, finished products and packed items, manually

  • Transfersfinished productorraw material between storage and work areas of plant by hand or using forklift

  • Packsand storesmaterials and products

  • Marksand tagsproducts

  • Disposesmaterials into machine hoppers prior to mixing

  • Mixesingredients according to specified procedures or formulas

  • Required to know, implement and delegate FSMS responsibilities asrequired.

  • Uses high pressure hose to wash parking lot, plant equipment, and surrounding areas of plant including spilled material on lot

  • Paints and washes plant equipment and building fixtures as necessary

  • Required to use standard hand tools (hammer, screwdriver , wrenches, etc.) and power tools (drills, impact drivers, saws, etc.)

  • Operates company vehicles around plant and property

  • Ensures steady flow of raw material from trailers to dock in safe and efficient manner

  • Checks and reports condition of raw material load and truck interior

  • Maintains safety as top priorityin accordance withall company safety rules and regulations

  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Demands


  • Frequently exposed to high noise levels, strong odors, varying temperatures, and biohazardous conditions.

  • Travel to off-site locations is required.

  • Requires prolonged sitting and frequent walking/movement, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb or balance.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and identify potential workplace hazards.

  • Requires the ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 100lbs.

  • Constantly-Must be able to use senses to; effectively communicate with co-workers and clients and detect hazardous conditions(Talk, hear, taste, smell)
