Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a dedicated Utility Worker in Cleveland, OH to load and unload raw materials and finished products, and maintain cleanliness of the plant and equipment. This role supports production operations and requires adherence to safety protocols.

You will assist with machine operation, inspect products for quality standards, and help with material transfers and packaging. The position is full-time with benefits including 401(k), health, dental and vision insurance, and paid

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a clean MVR.

• Loads and unloads items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Operates machinery used in production processes or assists machine operators.
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with company safety rules and regulations.
• Packs and stores materials and products; marks and tags products.
• Transfers finished product or raw material between storage and work areas; uses forklift if needed.

A Utility Worker is responsible for loading and unloading of raw material/finished product as well as cleanliness of plant and equipment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Loads and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Operates machinery used in production process or assist machine operators.
• Places products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting and wrapping
• Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards
• Starts machines or equipment to begin production processes
• Observes equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify operators, supervisor or maintenance of any malfunctions
• Removes products or waste material from machines
• Lifts raw materials, finished products and packed items, manually
• Transfers finished product or raw material between storage and work areas of plant by hand or using forklift
• Packs and stores materials and products
• Marks and tags products
• Disposes materials into machine hoppers prior to mixing
• Mixes ingredients according to specified procedures or formulas
• Required to know, implement and delegate FSMS responsibilities as required.
• Uses high pressure hose to wash parking lot, plant equipment, and surrounding areas of plant including spilled material on lot
• Paints and washes plant equipment and building fixtures as necessary
• Required to use standard hand tools (hammer, screw driver, wrenches, etc.) and power tools (drills, impact drivers, saws, etc.)
• Operates company vehicles around plant and property
• Ensures steady flow of raw material from trailers to dock in safe and efficient manner
• Checks and reports condition of raw material load and truck interior
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations
• Other duties as assigned
