Job summary

The Wenger Group, a Northeast-based food, agricultural products, and services company, is seeking a Utility Technician to support multiple plant operations. This role involves batch mixing, shortmix monitoring, and pellet mill operation, with cross-training for maintenance and special projects.

You will help load/unload trucks, uphold safety standards, and assist with process improvements while working as part of a collaborative team in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

What Your Day Looks Like

The Utility Technician is a versatile and essential team member responsible for supporting multiple operational processes within the mill. This role is designed for individuals who are cross‑trained in various functions, including batch mixing, shortmix monitoring, pellet mill operation, and truck loading/unloading. In addition to core responsibilities, the Utility Technician serves as a fill‑in for maintenance tasks and assists with special projects, ensuring smooth and efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities

May be responsible for all or part of the following duties and responsibilities to be determined by the Mill Manager, Mill Supervisor, Mill Shift Supervisor:

• Operate and monitor the batch mixing process to ensure accurate formulation and consistency.


• Perform shortmix monitoring to maintain product quality and compliance with specifications.


• Operate pellet mill equipment, ensuring optimal performance and product output.


• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, following all safety and documentation procedures.


• Serve as a backup for maintenance tasks, including basic repairs and equipment troubleshooting.


• Assist with plant projects, including equipment upgrades, process improvements, and facility enhancements.


• Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.


• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and resolve issues.


• Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned work areas.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).


• Prior experience in a manufacturing or mill environment is a plus.


• Ability to learn and perform multiple operational tasks.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.


• Good communication and teamwork skills.


• Willingness to be cross‑trained in batch mixing, shortmix monitoring, pellet mill operation, and truck loading/unloading.


• Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks and assist with projects as needed.


• Physical ability to lift, move, and operate equipment in a mill environment.


• Flexibility to work various shifts or fill in as needed.


• Adherence to all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
