Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company in Cary, IL is seeking an Operating Utility Technician to support production lines on 1st shift (6:00am–2:30pm). Responsibilities include machine setup, packaging operations, quality checks and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Duties involve feeding conveyors, loading/unloading, monitoring gauges, and potentially forklift use; prior experience in manufacturing and packaging equipment is preferred; eligibility for company benefits and performance bonus applies.

Qualifications

• At least three months of experience at the Cary, IL site in Operating Utility Technician role.
• At least one year operating machinery in manufacturing or distribution.
• At least one year operating packaging equipment (robotics, filling, case packing, labels).
• At least one year monitoring gauges, dials to ensure proper operation.
• At least one year monitoring the quality of raw materials or finished goods.
• At least one year using material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Follow all SOPs for the work area.
• Operate machines and hand equipment to package or assemble finished product.
• Perform setup of machines and equipment to prepare for production.
• Start machine and observe operation; adjust or stop as needed and report malfunctions.
• Feed product to conveyors and unload packaged product.
• Replenish packaging supplies and mount supplies on feeding devices.
• Inspect completed package to ensure conformance with specs.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
• May load/unload trucks manually or with a forklift.

Schedule: 1st Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm

This position is also eligible for a bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for work area.
• Uses machines and hand equipment to package and/or assemble finished product.
• Perform setup of machines and equipment to prepare for production.
• Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions; makes minor adjustments to machine to set guides or clear away damaged product; stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.
• Feeds product to conveyors, and unloads packaged product.
• Replenishes packaging supplies and mounts supplies on feeding devices.
• Inspects completed package to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• May be required to load and unload trucks manually or using a forklift truck

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

• Have at least three (3) months of experience working at the Cary, IL site in the Operating Utility Technician role
• Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
• Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, or labelers, etc.
• Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring gauges, dials, or other machinery indicators to ensure proper operation of machinery
• Have at least one (1) year of work experience monitoring the quality of raw materials and/or finished goods
• Have at least one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacuum-hoists, drum dolly's, conveyor belts, etc.)
