Job summary

Hanwha Q CELLS is seeking a Utility Staff Engineer to oversee the maintenance and operation of Mechanical Utilities facilities, providing strategic guidance to technicians and formulating maintenance plans.

The role focuses on resolving facility issues, managing equipment status, and driving safety, reliability, and KPI performance across EHS, quality, and productivity targets.

Qualifications

• The candidate should have 3–5 years in a similar manufacturing or related role.
• Proven experience leading and managing technician teams.
• Basic knowledge of Plumbing and Building codes.
• Proficient with mechanical systems and utilities in a manufacturing setting.
• Certifications are a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations for manufacturing.
• Experience ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Fluency in Korean is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Mechanical Part Technicians, assign work orders, meet deadlines, and conduct training.
• Lead technicians responsible for upkeep, repair, and preventive maintenance of facility equipment.
• Ensure stable utility supply and manage facilities to meet EHS, productivity, quality, reliability, and availability targets.
• Formulate and execute long- and short-term operation plans for Utility facilities.
• Monitor performance and manage costs and quality on daily, weekly, and monthly cycles.
• Supervise day-to-day preventive maintenance on Ultra-Pure Water, cooling, HVAC, gas/chemical supply, and wastewater systems.
• Oversee plumbing, piping, and mechanical installations, changes, upgrades, and repairs.
• Ensure maintenance per schedule and SOP; maintain equipment records and testing, including fire suppression.
• Formulate CAPEX budgets and oversee budget execution; drive cost-saving initiatives to hit KPIs.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

As the Utility Staff Engineer, oversees the maintenance and operation of Mechanical Utilities facilities, providing strategic guidance to technicians. Responsibilities include resolving facility issues, formulating maintenance plans, and efficiently managing personnel for seamless facility operations. Operate on a salary basis, dedicated to enhancing overall team productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and Team Management:
  • Supervise Mechanical Part Technicians, ensuring efficient work order assignments, meeting deadlines, and conducting training functions.
  • Manage a team of technicians and maintenance personnel responsible for the upkeep, repair, and preventive maintenance of the facility's equipment and infrastructure.
• Facilities Operation Management:
  • Ensure the stable utility supply and management of Utility facilities, achieving operation targets in EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), Productivity, Quality, Reliability, and Availability.
  • Formulate and execute both long and short-term operation plans for Utility facilities.
  • Monitor and improve the operational performance of Utility facilities, conducting daily, weekly, and monthly management of performance (cost and quality).
• Facilities Maintenance Management
  • Supervise to Conduct day-to-day/routine preventative maintenance tasks on various systems, including Ultra-Pure Water, Process Cooling Water, Chilled Water, Cooling Water, Clean Dry Air, Exhaust blowers, HVAC, Gas/Chemical supply system, and Wastewater Treatment.
  • Oversee plumbing, piping, and mechanical parts installations, changes, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Ensure that all preventative maintenance on Facilities equipment is performed according to the established schedule and Standard Operation Procedure.
  • Compile and maintain records for all facilities equipment status, maintenance activities, and scheduled testing, including fire suppression systems.
• Budget Formulation and Management
  • Formulate and manage CAPEX budgets, ensuring effective execution.
  • Oversee budget formulation for Utility facility operations, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of resources.
  • Monitor and Implement cost-saving activities to achieve KPI targets.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

To Be Trained

• Inventory (Spare Part, Chemical, Consumable) Management:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive spare part management system.
  • Ensure availability of critical spare parts to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct proactive inventory planning to ensure an adequate supply of chemicals for wastewater treatment processes.
  • Anticipate chemical consumption patterns and adjust stock levels accordingly.
• Emergency Response and Compliance:
  • Respond to plant emergencies related to environmental failures, fires, or security issues.
• Training:
  • Deliver training and maintain the training record of Mechanical Technicians
• Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations of Hanwha QCELLS.
  • Develop and execute safety measures related to the operation and maintenance of Utility facilities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within a similar manufacturing or related industry.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team of technicians.
• Basic knowledge of Plumbing codes and building codes.
• Proficient in mechanical systems and utilities within a similar industry
• Relevant certifications are preferred and will be considered a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to manufacturing factory.
• Experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Fluency in Korean is a plus, but not required.
