Benchmark Utility Services is seeking hardworking Construction Dry Utility Laborers to join our field team in Shreveport, LA. You will support underground dry utilities and site construction with physically demanding tasks, working closely with crew members and foremen to ensure safety and quality on outdoor projects.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
• Comfortable working in trenches, around utilities and in confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Experience in construction or labor preferred, utility/site work is a plus.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor to support site and utility construction projects.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
• Excavate trenches and work around existing utilities.
• Assist with installation of piping, conduit, and other utility infrastructure.
• Support skilled tradespeople and equipment operators as needed.
• Report equipment issues and perform light maintenance on tools.
• Follow all safety procedures and participate in daily safety briefings.

Position Summary

We are seeking hardworking and safety-focused Construction Dry Utility Laborers to join our field team. In this role, you will support underground utility and site construction projects by performing a variety of physical labor tasks. You will work closely with crew members and foremen to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a physically demanding, outdoor position with opportunities to grow your skills and advance within the company.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor to support site and utility construction projects.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Perform work for underground dry utilities.
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
• Clean and prepare job sites, including debris removal and site restoration.
• Excavate trenches and perform manual digging around existing utilities.
• Assist with installation of piping, conduit, and other utility infrastructure.
• Support skilled tradespeople and equipment operators as needed.
• Report equipment issues and perform light maintenance on tools.
• Follow all safety procedures, participate in daily safety briefings, and use required PPE.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous construction or labor experience preferred (utility or site work experience a plus).
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
• Comfortable working in trenches, confined spaces, and around active utilities.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to follow safety protocols and company policies.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience with light equipment (e.g., compactors, saws, mini excavators).
• Additional safety certifications (e.g., Flagger, Confined Space, First Aid/CPR).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly; push/pull up to 100 lbs as needed.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, or rain.
• Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely.
