Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Utility Services Technician II for our Alpharetta, GA office to support field surveys and utility designations. The role requires 1–3 years of designation experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to travel up to 60% of the time.

You will operate basic field equipment and collaborate with survey staff to deliver accurate data and safe outcomes. Weekend overtime and travel may be required; you’ll work in varied field conditions.

• Must possess or obtain a valid driver’s license.

• Experience with Microsoft Excel and tablets is a plus.

• Be knowledgeable of the quality levels of SUE and how to differentiate between each one.
• Provide support for utility services/survey staff as needed.

Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a full-time Utility Services Technician II for our Alpharetta, GA office. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

• Being able to pair count and positively identify utility owners and cable sizes.
• Assist with operation and maintenance of vacuum excavation truck.
• Be knowledgeable of the quality levels of SUE and how to differentiate between each one.
• Provide support for utility services/survey staff as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of utility designation experience
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment
• Ability to travel (up to 60% of the time)
• Microsoft Excel experience – can learn and understand new software
• Familiarity with iPad or tablet, a plus

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 10-12 hours a day on occasion.
• Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
• Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
• Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
