Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative to oversee quality assurance on power, renewable energy, transmission, and substation projects across the United States. This field-based role requires 100% travel to active sites and close collaboration with Superintendents, Project Managers, and field teams.

Responsibilities include inspections, testing coordination, and maintaining quality records to prevent rework while upholding R-2's standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in quality control/QA on heavy civil or utility-scale projects.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods and QA procedures.
  • Experience reading plans, specs, and testing requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate testing agencies and maintain quality records.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours.

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced and motivated Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative to support quality assurance and quality control activities on utility‑scale power, renewable energy, transmission, and substation projects throughout the United States. This field‑based role is responsible for ensuring construction activities are performed in accordance with project specifications, company standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations while working closely with field operations to promote quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Working alongside Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, and project teams, the Field Quality Control Representative performs inspections, verifies workmanship, coordinates testing, maintains quality documentation, and helps identify and resolve quality issues before they impact production. Success in this role is measured by the ability to maintain exceptional quality standards, support safe and efficient project execution, and reinforce the R-2 standard of excellence.

Position: Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative
Location: Initial Project located in Pomeroy, WA (Nationwide job sites to follow)
Travel Requirements:
  • This is a field‑based position requiring 100% travel to active project sites throughout the United States
  • Candidates must be willing to travel extensively and work extended schedules as required to support project demands
Salary:

$90k - $120k DOE

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily field inspections to verify work complies with project specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, and customer requirements
  • Inspect heavy civil, earthwork, underground utilities, trenching, concrete foundations, drilled pier foundations, and Horizontal Directional Drilling activities as applicable
  • Verify layout, dimensions, elevations, grades, tolerances, and completed work prior to acceptance
  • Coordinate material testing, field testing, and third‑party inspection activities
  • Document inspection results, test reports, deficiencies, corrective actions, and quality records
  • Monitor construction activities to identify quality concerns before they become rework or schedule impacts
  • Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, survey crews, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues
  • Assist with implementation and enforcement of project‑specific Quality Control Plans
  • Maintain organized project quality documentation and support project turnover requirements
  • Participate in customer meetings, quality audits, and project inspections as required
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the project
  • Support field leadership by providing technical guidance related to quality standards and specifications
  • Lead by example while living and reinforcing the R-2 Core Values every day
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of quality control, quality assurance, inspection, or field construction experience within heavy civil, underground utilities, concrete, renewable energy, or utility‑scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, utility‑scale concrete foundations, underground utility installation, grading, trenching, drilled pier foundations, and Horizontal Directional Drilling operations
  • Experience reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, shop drawings, testing requirements, and construction documents
  • Knowledge of construction materials, testing procedures, and industry standards including ASTM and AASHTO
  • Experience coordinating testing agencies, inspectors, and subcontractors
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with field operations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic project documentation systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, accountability, quality workmanship, and operational excellence
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours as project schedules require
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to successfully complete pre‑employment drug screening and background check
