Utility Project Engineer

Full Time Key Position | Dayton, Moraine, OH, US

Direct Supervisor: Utility Maintenance Manager

Job Summary
  • Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Support Utility Manager and Utility team members
Job Functions and Duties
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project job scopes and confer with Processing Department and Machinery team
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements
  • Determines project specifications and project schedule by studying project design and customer requirements
  • Completing relevant technical studies and preparing cost estimates with the purchasing dept.
  • Prepare project status reports and keep track of construction plan
  • Propose scope of work to contractors and engineering design team
  • Review design drawings provided by Engineering Design company and construction contractors
  • Maintains project documents, including drawings, permit letter, warranty letter etc.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to create more efficient methods and maintain profitability
  • Assign and manage daily installation tasks to Utility team members
  • Site support all construction team and contractors to make sure job accomplished on time
  • Support Utility manager on CIP projects management, complete KPI assessment
  • Support Utility manager on PM, Overhaul and Shutdown schedules and documents preparation
  • Support on all Utility teams to purchase and manage spare parts
  • Support Utility Manager on daily routine and coordinate team members

Job Requirements

Language: English and/or Mandarin. Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, leadership and customers.

Experience: 1+ years manufacturing and project management experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher (GED)

Physical Condition

The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods. Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to pass static strength requirements (grip). Visual acuity and color vision required. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Safety requirements: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed work boots.

  • Mathematical skills – add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning ability – solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Computer skills – knowledge and familiarity of manufacturing software, Microsoft Office.
  • Recording of technical, documentation, scheduling and time management skills.
  • Negotiation skills with suppliers and contractors.
  • Assess project risks and opportunities.
  • Create, allocate, and manage the budget.
  • Training: EPAC and Plex system training.
  • Document control procedure, documented code compiling and management.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat. The noise level is usually moderate. Safety requirements include safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed work boots.
