Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Safety-conscious Utility Person to join our Georgia plant team. Responsibilities include maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, inspections, and light welding under supervision.

You will operate skid steers, loaders, and other tools to keep equipment and roadways clean, support production, loading, shipping, and quality control. Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and are encouraged to learn new equipment operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Building materials industry experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn to operate various equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment.
• Complete pre/post-shift inspections and maintain maintenance logs.
• Operate skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around equipment and maintain roadways.
• Assist in production, loading/shipping, and quality control tasks.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and assist in training coworkers.

This position involves various manual tasks including, but not limited to, the following: shoveling; sweeping; lifting, pushing and pulling various objects and raking. Willingness to learn to operate various equipment, such as a skid steer, backhoe, pavers, rollers, etc.What to expect:Martin Marietta is seeking a Utility Person to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation. The utility person is responsible for greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment, and performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment. Hours are 6:30 am - 4:30 pm including weekends as necessary.A typical day for a(n) Utility Person may include:Performing preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnelPerforming daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance logUsing a hand shovel and operates a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking areasOperating a water truck to limit airborne dustParticipating in plant operations including production, loading and shipping, and quality controlMaintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the siteOperating plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as neededAiding in the training of co-workers as neededPerforming other duties as assigned by supervisorYou may be a good fit if you:Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this positionHave experience in the building materials industry (preferred)
