Job summary

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment.
• Conduct daily pre/post-shift inspections and maintain maintenance log.
• Operate skid steer, front end loader, and other tools for cleaning around equipment.
• Operate a water truck to limit airborne dust.
• Participate in production, loading/shipping, and quality control.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe traffic flow at the site.
• Use automated scale and related software to generate customer tickets.
• Provide site-specific training to visitors and ensure guidelines are followed.
• Record aggregate tonnage and sales activity daily/weekly/monthly.
• Communicate with site personnel to fulfill customer needs.
• Answer customer calls and relay pricing, product descriptions, and availability.

What to Expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking a Utility Person to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation. The utility person is responsible for greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment, and performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment.

Wilson, NC

Hours: 7AM - 4PM, weekends as necessary

A typical day for a (n) Utility Person may include:

• Performing preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnel
• Performing daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance log
• Using a hand shovel and operates a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking area
• Operating a water truck to limit airborne dust
• Participating in plant operations including production, loading and shipping, and quality control
• Maintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Operating plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Operating an automated scale and related computer software program to generate customer tickets
• Administering site specific training to visitors and ensures site guidelines are followed
• Directing customers to the appropriate areas of the site
• Maintaining accurate records of aggregate tonnage and sales activities on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and prepares basic reports
• Communicating with other site personnel to ensure proper recording of sales activities and fulfillment of customer needs
• Answering customer calls and communicates pricing, product descriptions, and product availability
• Maintaining professionalism in all situations in the workplace and when working with customers
• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor
