PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: The Utility Operator will serve as back-up for key positions across the site during both planned and unplanned absences to ensure continuous operation.

Additionally, the Utility Operator will be the primary point of contact within the Gluer Department and Die Shop however, will have the expectation to train and develop across multiple departments and areas to include but not limited to Web Cutting, Die Shop, Stock Puller and Baler Operation.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assist in managing Die Shop operations which includes pin cylinder preparation, die chase loading and unloading, die maintenance, and inventory management of die components
  • Train and develop on the operation, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Web Cutter(s), Gluers, In-Line Window Machines, and associated Automation
  • Maintain robotic equipment or related automated production systems. Modify computer-controlled robot movements based on job
  • Drive daily performance of assigned equipment in coordination with team, taking action to close any gaps that pertain to safety, quality, and operational efficiencies
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with other shift Utility Operators, Die Shop Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Mechanic, and other team members as needed
  • Support the development, implementation, and adherence to operating standards within the Training Program to ensure all standards are understood and being followed
  • Adapts to Continuous Improvement and follows new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
  • Maintains a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety, Kanban and 5S systems
  • Take ownership of self-development in coordination with your Supervisor with a focus on equipment operation and leadership skills (if interested)
  • Support material handling needs to include unloading, storing, staging, and loading of Paperboard Rolls, Raw Materials, WIP and Finished Goods pallets as needed
  • Support scrap management and baler operation as needed, ensuring proper board type segregation
  • Ensure documentation and data entry requirements are understood and completed including but not limited to scheduling, job tickets, quality samples and shop floor data collection
  • May be required to train new or existing employees in adherence to SCT safety and company policies.
  • Flow to the work or need of the site with positivity, being proficient within every role to ensure continuous and safe operation; potential to serve within leadership role in their absence

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
