Job summary

The City of Pasadena, TX is seeking a lead technician to supervise utility crews performing wastewater line and plant maintenance. The role involves directing daily work, coordinating materials, and ensuring traffic safety and regulatory compliance on all projects.

Candidates should have 1-2 years of related experience or training, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Texas driver’s license. The position may require after-hours callouts and ongoing safety training.

Job description

Duties: Leads, oversees, and assists utility crews in the performance of manual tasks including installation, repair, and general maintenance pertaining to waste water lines and/or sewage plants/lift stations as well as equipment. Provides leadership and coordination of materials to perform projects and daily maintenance work. Ensures that proper traffic control and safety requirements are being followed. Provides leadership and coordination of materials to perform projects and daily maintenance work. Must have the ability to make an assessment and an appropriate decision to perform the assigned project. May assist other crews in customer service compliance with waste water related issues. May be subject to call out service after hours. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; 1-2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be in good physical condition; position requires constant physical labor. Must have proven leadership. Valid Texas driver's license (Class B may be required) and good driving record. Traffic Control Training, Utility Safety, Trenching & Shoring Safety, and Confined Space Entry classes will be recommended if not already taken/attained. May provide department with special skills, licenses, or certificates that may be utilized by the department such as plumbing license, electrical license/certificate, or welding certificate. The State of Texas requires-TEEX 40-60 hrs. May require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time.
