Job summary

Pender County is seeking a Utilities Protection Technician to locate and mark underground utilities and related equipment. You will respond to NC811 requests, using GPR, metal detectors, and cable/pipeline locators, and coordinate with contractors and homeowners to ensure accurate locates.

Work involves reading maps and plans, preparing reports, and maintaining safety standards. This on-site role includes on-call rotation and opportunities to assist in repair and maintenance of water and sewer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in water and sewer line maintenance or related fields preferred.
• Ability to read maps, plans, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Locates and marks water and sewer lines for utility companies and contractors.
• Operates locating equipment such as GPR, metal detectors, and cable/pipeline locators.
• Responds to NC811 requests and coordinates with county staff.
• Prepares documentation, records, and reports for locates.
• Maintains safety and compliance with NC811 rules.
