McKim & Creed, Inc. is seeking a Utility Locator III to lead a SUE field crew, manage field operations, and ensure accurate data collection and reporting. The role requires proficiency with SUE locating equipment, total stations, GPS, and excavation tools.

The candidate will organize field work, deliver data to the office with precise records, and occasionally travel overnight. Expect to work outdoors across varied terrain in different weather conditions while upholding safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years in Utility Locating and SUE field operations.
• Proficiency with SUE locating equipment, total stations, and GPS.
• Strong data collection, recordkeeping, and problem solving.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, background check and drug testing.

• Operate SUE field equipment such as GPR, electromagnetic designation equipment, sewer camera, and vacuum excavation gear.

• Some overnight travel will be required.
• Work outdoors in various terrains and weather.

Job description

OVERVIEW

A Utility Locator III is responsible for the operation and management of a Utility Location and Subsurface Utility Engineering "SUE" field crew. Must accurately and efficiently collect field data, locate features, and deliver data to the office, while maintaining accurate records of work and expenses. Problem solver, helpful, analytical, detail oriented, likes structure are beneficial traits for the position.

DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:

• Manage a Utility Location and Subsurface Utility Engineering "SUE" field crew.
• Lead with these major objectives in mind: quality (accuracy, thoroughness, clarity, meets regulatory requirements, public relations) of work, safety, meet schedules, within budgets, and responsive service to clients.
• Utilize Subsurface Utility Engineering field equipment such as: ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic designating equipment, sewer camera, probe rod, jackhammer, pneumatic tampers, vacuum excavation equipment, and other geophysical means using all safety protocols, industry standards and guidelines.
• Organize field work and direct crew members, while accurately and efficiently collecting field data, locating features, and deliver data to the office, while maintaining accurate records of work and expenses.
• Some overnight travel will be required.
• Walk around a lot outside year-round through all kinds of terrain and in extreme heat and cold.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• 5 to 10 year's progressive experience in Utility Locating along with Subsurface Utility Engineering "SUE" field operations, proficiency with SUE locating equipment, proficiency with total stations and GPS, SUE locating equipment and vacuum excavation equipment.
• Some proficiency with ground penetrating radar is desired.
• Individual will have proficient technical skills; behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, honest, trustworthy, adaptable, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure.
• Must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable motor vehicle record, cleared criminal background check and negative drug test result.
