Job summary

Kanaan Communications, LLC is hiring a Locator II in the Lakewood, OH area. You will locate and mark underground utilities using flags and paint, ensuring project safety and efficiency. Expect to operate, read maps, document locates, and collaborate with excavation teams.

The role requires at least 6 months locating experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work in various weather conditions. We offer strong benefits, ongoing training, and opportunities for overtime and travel.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience.
• At least 6 months of locating experience.
• Valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate detection equipment to locate and mark standard (and complex) underground utilities, with guidance from experienced Locators as needed.
• Read utility maps to locate underground utilities correctly.
• Document all locates.
• Respond promptly to excavation notices.
• Communicate well with excavators, utility representatives, and company staff.
• Troubleshoot difficult locates and assist with locating high-profile cable lines as necessary.
• Dig lightly with a shovel when necessary.
• Work overtime, travel, and perform on-call/afterhours responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• A minimum of six months of locating experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally: use portable ladder, work in confined spaces, and climb stairs
