Job summary

MT Private Utility Locating Services is seeking a skilled Utility Locator in Albuquerque, NM. This field role focuses on accurately identifying underground utilities prior to excavation to keep crews safe and projects on track.

You will work independently in the field, mark lines, and communicate findings to stakeholders on-site. Candidates with experience in utility locating, familiarity with EM locating equipment or GPR, knowledge of APWA color codes, and a valid driver's license are

Qualifications

• Prior experience in utility locating or related field.
• Familiarity with electromagnetic locating equipment and/or GPR.
• Knowledge of APWA color codes and safe digging practices.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel to NM and surrounding states.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently in the field.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground utilities including gas, electric, water, sewer, and telecommunications lines
• Utilize electromagnetic locating equipment and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to detect subsurface utilities
• Interpret and review site plans, utility maps, and as-built drawings prior to field work
• Accurately document and report locate findings using field sketches and digital reporting tools
• Communicate findings clearly with contractors, project managers, and clients on-site
• Adhere to all safety protocols and APWA color-coding standards for utility marking
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure accuracy of all locates before excavation

MT Private Utility Locating Services is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Utility Locator to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. This is a critical field role where your expertise helps keep crews safe and projects on track by accurately identifying underground utilities before excavation begins. Responsibilities:

• Locate and mark underground utilities including gas, electric, water, sewer, and telecommunications lines
• Utilize electromagnetic locating equipment and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) to detect subsurface utilities
• Interpret and review site plans, utility maps, and as-built drawings prior to field work
• Accurately document and report locate findings using field sketches and digital reporting tools
• Communicate findings clearly with contractors, project managers, and clients on-site

Requirements:

• Prior experience in utility locating, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), or a related field preferred
• Familiarity with electromagnetic induction locating equipment and/or GPR technology
• Knowledge of APWA color codes and safe digging best practices
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
• Must be able to travel to different job sites as required within our market region (NM, and surrounding states)
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in the field
