Vivacity Infrastructure Group is seeking a Utility Locating Supervisor in Atlanta, GA to manage underground locating operations, oversee field personnel and enforce safety compliance. The role coordinates daily locate schedules, investigates damages and interprets complex maps.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 4–7 years combined education and experience.
• Experience with underground utility locating and leading teams.
• Familiarity with regional One-Call laws and damage investigation processes.
• Experience reviewing design drawings and using locating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, manage and evaluate employees; hire and discipline as needed.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed; coordinate scheduling; provide training.
• Review as-built drawings, blueprints and GIS mapping data to resolve high-complexity issues.
• Prevent catastrophic fiber cuts to maintain services.
• Interpret fiber network schematics, splice diagrams and GIS databases.
• Train staff on high-frequency electronic locators.
• Lead damage investigations and document evidence for claims.
• Conduct audits on locators to identify training needs.
• Respond to dig ticket requests; locate/mark infrastructure while complying with rules and regulations.

Utility Locating Supervisor - Atlanta, GA

Position Summary

eX² Technology is seeking a Utility Locating Supervisor experienced in managing underground utility locating operations, overseeing field personnel and enforcing safety compliance to join our team. The Utility Locating Supervisor will coordinate daily locate schedules, investigate utility damages and interpret complex infrastructure maps.

Team Leadership: Supervise, manage and evaluate employees. Make decisions about hiring and discipline as needed.

Operations & Compliance: Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are followed, coordinate scheduling and provide training and support to the team.

Technical Oversight: Review as-built engineering drawings, blueprints and GIS mapping data to resolve high-complexity field identification issues.

Network Integrity: Prevent catastrophic fiber cuts to maintain uninterrupted data and telecommunication services.

Complex Mapping: Interpret fiber network schematics, splice diagrams and telecommunication GIS databases.

Equipment Mastery: Train staff on high-frequency electronic locators.

Damage Audits: Lead investigations when telecom lines are damaged, documenting evidence for liability claims.

Locator Audits: Conduct audits on locators to identify mistakes and misunderstandings. Identify locators that require additional training.

Ticket Management: Respond to dig ticket requests from contractor crews to locate, identify and mark existing client infrastructure while meeting compliance with Company, State and Federal processes, procedures, rules and regulations.

Schedule Requirements: Assist with staffing needs by covering shifts for team members during illness, vacations or other absences. Must be available on an on-call basis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond promptly to property damage, emergencies and other urgent operational needs. Must be willing and able to work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends, evenings and holidays, as business needs require.

Job Requirements

Education

Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or 4 - 7 years equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

4 - 7 years of underground utility locating experience and 1 - 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.

Experience with complex urban underground utility infrastructure.

Experience in serving as firm-client liaison.

Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.

Experience in the use and basic maintenance of industry standard locating equipment.

Experience using basic communication and technical devices.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Deep familiarity with regional One-Call notification laws, damage investigation protocols, and electronic pipe/cable locating instruments.

Physical Requirements

Capable of moving around on construction work sites, public streets and parkways.

Capable of lifting up to 75lbs.

Ability to stand, walk, kneel or sit for extended periods of time.

Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various measurement, locating and testing instruments.

Other Requirements

Work safely outside in all weather conditions year-round.

Occasionally work in excavations areas and roadways.

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is occasionally moderate to loud.

Language Skills

Communicates effectively in oral and written English technical language, both in interpreting requirements and providing reports and mentoring.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Tools & Equipment

Must be capable of operating the following:

Company-provided computer, including word processing and spreadsheet software.

Company-provided vehicle.

Phone, camera and GPS.

Tape measure, wheel and various types of locating equipment, not including locating receiver/transmitter.
