Job summary

The role focuses on trench work, installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems, and assisting crew leaders to keep projects moving safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate has hands-on trench experience, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a solid work ethic.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Utility Laborer to join our team and support underground wet utility construction projects. This position requires prior hands‑on experience working in excavation trenches installing and assisting with underground utility systems, including water, sewer, and storm drainage.

Responsibilities

• Assist crews with the installation of underground wet utilities, including water mains, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems
• Work safely in and around trenches, excavations, and utility installations
• Load and unload materials, tools, pipe, and fittings
• Assist with pipe laying, utility placement, grading, and backfill operations
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Collaborate with site supervisors and other construction staff to ensure project success
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in construction practices
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Required: Previous experience working on underground wet utility crews in the ditch
• Required: Experience installing or assisting with water, sewer, and/or storm drain systems
• Ability to work safely around trenches, excavation equipment, and underground utilities
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and working in all weather conditions
