Description

To be skilled on a variety of jobs on the line, department or facility in order to assist the supervisor or lead when needed.

This position supports production lines and utility functions across multiple stations and requires flexibility, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards. The role includes inspecting packaged product to ensure correct date codes, product inclusion, seal integrity, and removing any non‑conforming product according to quality guidelines, as well as performing rework following established procedures, safe handling practices, and ergonomic requirements to prevent contamination. Employees operate and support multiple pieces of equipment, including case makers, labelers, case tapers, checkweighers, and Flexi equipment, which involves loading materials, replacing tape and labels, monitoring HMIs, verifying seals and weights, and performing minor troubleshooting. The job also includes material handling tasks such as hand stacking cases according to approved patterns, verifying correct labeling, maintaining stack stability, and properly preparing cases to ensure smooth case flow. Documentation and compliance responsibilities include completing temperature checks, logging data in required systems, completing work orders via electronic, and following all required check‑in and check‑out procedures. Employees are expected to maintain clean and organized work areas, properly manage tools and materials, dispose of condemned product according to procedures, and perform additional related duties as assigned by the shift supervisor.

Assists in training of new employees: On the basic dress requirements, safety aspects, job assignment and sanitation procedures and policies.

Participates as a member of the Team Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Utility and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: This position requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling, as well as the ability to lift and carry materials weighing between 10 and 50 pounds from floor level to shoulder or overhead height. Team members must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift and occasionally climb stairs or fixed ladders. The role involves working in varying environmental conditions, including wet, noisy, hot, humid, or cold environments, with temperatures ranging from below 40°F to above 100°F. Sustained attention is required to monitor equipment effectively. The position also includes occasional use of low- and high-pressure washdown hoses and occasional shoveling of product from floor level to shoulder height.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): footwear refer to footwear standard policy , Will use hair net, ear plugs, and any other protective equipment as needed or required.

Technical Experience: Basic computer skills preferred

Industry Experience: Preference for Food Processing Industry
