Job summary

STV Incorporated in Asheville, NC is seeking Utility Inspectors to support highway and bridge construction projects. This role requires field travel, safety focus, and collaboration with our transportation team.

You will verify utility relocations, monitor contractor compliance, and document daily progress. The position offers growth within a Top 50 ENR firm and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform utility relocation verification during highway and bridge projects.
• Monitor contractor compliance with relocation plans and schedules.
• Prepare daily inspection reports.
• Measure and document completed work.
• Read utility relocation plans, roadway plans, UC plans, and cross sections.
• Track field changes via plan redlines.
• Communicate effectively with project staff and clients, verbally and in writing.
• Operate computer/tablet (iPad) for field tasks.

Job description

We have immediate needs for Utility Inspectors in the Asheville NC areas for our Transportation division. The successful candidates will support our current staff while assisting in growing the Construction Management and CEI practice to better service our clients statewide.

This role offers unlimited opportunities to maintain existing client relationships, broaden STV's service offerings geographically, be involved in major transportation projects, mentor junior staff, all while promoting the culture of a healthy work-life balance.

This position offers a challenging role at an Engineer News-Record (ENR) Top 50 rated firm. The ideal candidate is an individual who desires to lead through example, is professionally respected, an excellent communicator, and possesses a strong understanding of construction safety principles.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform utility relocation verification activities in support of highway and bridge construction projects. More specifically:

• Apply safety philosophy to all job responsibilities and ability to work safely in an outside environment

• Monitor contractor compliance with relocation plans and schedule

• Prepare daily inspection reports

• Perform measurement and documentation of completed work

• Read and interpret utility relocation plans, roadway plans, UC plans, and cross sections

• Track changes that are made in the field via redlining plans

• Effectively communicate with project staff and clients, both verbal and written communication

• Basic knowledge of computer and tablet (iPad) operation

The employee will typically be assigned to NCDOT or other roadway and bridge construction projects. Daily travel to project site will be required. Candidates must work nights and weekends when required. Overnight travel is not expected but may be necessary on a limited basis.

Candidates must hold a hold a valid state driver's license and clean driving record andhave the ability to lift 50 pounds, traverse rough terrain, walk or stand for extended periods of time while performing manual tasks, and work outdoors during all types of weather.

Specific Requirements:

Applicant must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience with utility installation/inspection or construction inspection.

Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Compensation Range:

$61,899.00 - $70,339.00
