Job summary

Davey Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a dynamic UVM Technician to join our environmental team and support utility vegetation management across ROWs.

You will inspect ROWs, identify needed tree work, coordinate with line-clearance crews, document findings, and communicate with property owners. Expect activities including on-call shifts, nights, weekends, and storms.

Qualifications

  • Experience in professional or collegiate tree work settings is required.
  • Ability to identify local tree species and understand tree physiology.
  • Arborist certification or ability to obtain within 6–12 months and pesticide license required.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record needed.
  • Proficient in common computer programs (Word/Excel/Access/Outlook/PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect utility rights‑of‑way and access areas for compliance with standards.
  • Identify needed tree and brush work and coordinate with line-clearance crews.
  • Document work using handheld devices and notify property owners as needed.
  • Audit contractor work and address access issues with crews.
  • Support special projects and be available for nights, weekends, holidays, or storms.

Position Overview

We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Technician to our passionate team of environmental professionals.

Job Duties

The Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) Technician will inspect distribution utility right-of-ways and access to Right-of-Way (ROW) areas, for compliance with state clearance standards. Identify needed tree and brush control work and provide info to line-clearance crews. Document work using hand-held computer. Notify property owners of pending work on their property. Audit work completed by contractors. Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues. Special projects as assigned. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and storms as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications: An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Professional or Collegiate Practical Tree Work Experience (including Collegiate Climbing Classes, Forestry Club Operations, Production Climber, Groundsman, or Lift Operator, etc).
  • Proficiency with local Tree Identification and Tree Physiology. ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain in 6-12 months. Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.
  • Wildland fire fighting experience
  • Current Driver’s License and Driving Record in good standing.
  • Proficient working knowledge of computers. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint.
