Job summary

Sarasota County Schools is seeking a dedicated Utility Maintenance Technician to support facilities services across schools and district sites in Sarasota, FL. This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 3+ years in concrete, masonry, and heavy equipment, and a valid CDL Class A with air brakes or the ability to obtain one within 60 days.

The incumbent will conduct routine maintenance, operate large equipment, and ensure safety and compliance with district policies.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years verifiable experience: concrete work, brick and block masonry, heavy equipment operation, fence layout/erection.
Must possess CDL Class A with air brake endorsement or obtain within 60 days of hire.
Must pass written and hands-on tests with a score of 80+ on each.
Strong knowledge of maintenance tools, safety standards, and ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Perform utilities maintenance and care of external facilities.
Maintain and service equipment used in utility maintenance.
Construct and repair facilities as assigned and ensure compliance with DOE/industry codes.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and inventory data.
