Job summary

HSBMA in Kingston, GA is seeking a Utility (mechanical) engineer to plan, design and manage mechanical facilities—HVAC, Clean Room/Dry Room, steam, chilled water, NMP recovery, and more—to support processing and manufacturing. You will lead energy-saving efforts and coordinate with SHE, control, and production teams.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with English proficiency and CAD skills.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in EV battery, auto parts, automobile industry or similar manufacturing.
  • Certification: Steam boiler or PE certification preferred.
  • Language: Working level of English (verbal, written).
  • Computer: Advanced MS Office; AutoCAD or similar programs.
  • Physical/Work environment: office and production site with PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Planning/Management for facilities and utilities.
  • Establish and manage annual maintenance/repairment plan and budget.
  • Investment planning, review drawings, and write specifications for repairs.
  • Plan energy saving initiatives and improve facility operation efficiency.
  • Ensure safety inspections and regulatory compliance (PSV, pressure vessel).
  • Construct and supervise mechanical facility projects and procurement.

Job description

Utility (mechanical) engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and managing all mechanical facilities that manage the utility equipment, temperature conditions, pressure, power, and clean room/dry room required for processing or manufacturing raw materials. He or She is responsible for installation, operation, maintenance, repairment, removal and disposal of facilities including HVAC equipment, Clean Room / Dry Room system, Steam System, Chilled Water and Cooling Water System, NMP Recovery, Hot Oil Boiler, A/C tower, Scrubber, Pipeline System, N2 gas, wastewater, valve, any other utility related systems, and he/she needs to plan and carry out energy saving activities through effective management and efficiency improvement of installations. He/she also need to interact with SHE engineer, equipment engineer, control engineer, production engineer, production planner and manager, customer, vendors and local community to solve urgent complex problems by identifying and evaluating alternatives or reporting utility related issues. He or She is also responsible for leading site activities by providing knowledge, advice and leadership over necessary stakeholders including but not limited to utility supervisors, utility operators, subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, etc. This position requires some call-in duty during off hours when necessary.

2) Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Planning/Management
  • Establish and manage annual maintenance/repairment plan and budget
  • Request for renovation, and issue a purchase order (P/O)
  • Investment Planning/Management
  • Establish and manage annual investment plan and budget
  • Review facility investment techniques
  • Review construction drawings and make simple modifications (P&ID, etc.)
  • Write down specifications for repairs and new construction, and write down construction documents for a public use
  • Request for new facility’s quotation, and issue a construction purchase order (P/O)
  • Manage facility investment performance
  • Facility Inspection and Technical Support
  • Review/repair the facility based on the requests received by the system
  • Develop/Manage/revise the facility operation manual
  • Daily/monthly/quarterly/yearly facility inspection
  • Identify the cause of the facility abnormalities and review the technology. Prepare the reports of abnormalities to manage the history (if needed)
  • Plan to optimize the operation efficiency
  • Manage pipe (air, water supply, etc.)
  • Energy Saving Planning and Performance Management
  • Analyze the energy usage trends by each equipment
  • Identify energy saving potential items by equipment
  • Manage monthly energy saving performance (operating time applied)
  • Government Relations
  • Respond to regular court inspection on mechanical facilities
  • Review, check and rectify such that the facility meets local law and regulations.
  • Operational safety inspection (PSV (safety valve), pressure vessel, and static pressure)
  • Audit Preparation & Response
  • Create and manage documents on facility required by PSM/ISO
  • Take appropriate measures to improve facility, and correct non-conformities specified by PSM/ISO
  • Construction Management/Supervising
  • Supervise the mechanical facility construction (due to repair and extension of mechanical facility, or due to change of production line)
  • Request purchase of facility parts (purchase request)
  • Purchase order on construction materials
  • Inspect materials
  • Emergency Planning & Response
  • Plan and execute emergency trainings on natural disasters, lack of power, and release of harmful substances
  • Other tasks as assigned

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering or equivalent
  • Experience: At least 3-5 year of relevant experience in EV battery, auto parts, automobile industry, or similar manufacturing in electric or chemical component.
  • Qualification/Certification/License: (Preferred) Steam boiler, PE related certification
  • Language skills: Working level of English (verbal, written, etc.)
  • Computer skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) (Preferred) Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar programs (reading and drawing)
  • Physical & Mental Demands:
  • In the office: Must wear the company-provided uniform
  • In the production site: Must wear the company-provided uniform and PPE including safety shoes, safety helmet (hard hat), safety glasses/safety goggles, portable gas measuring device
  • In the clean room and dry room: Must wear dust-proof suit, shoes, gloves and hat
  • In the A/C tower: Must wear dust-proof mask
  • When exposed to NMP, hot oil: Additionally wear gas mask, dust-proof mask, chemical resistant clothing
  • Work Environment: Usual office environment

Risk of noise: Above 90dB in compressor room

Risk of high temperature: 104~122°F in boiler room, machine room, vacuum pump room

Potential exposure to hazardous materials (heating medium oil, NMP, water treatment chemicals (boiler treatment compound, acidity regulator, etc.)) and various kinds of lubricating oils
