Job summary

Mi-Tech Services Inc. is seeking a Utility Construction Inspector to monitor gas, electric, telecom, and municipal projects.

You will verify compliance with safety rules, plans, specifications, and standards while serving as the owner’s third-party representative in the field. The role requires reading construction documents, traveling between sites daily, and using mobile tools like ArcGIS Survey123 or Field Maps.

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge in natural gas, electric, telecommunications, or municipal utility construction is preferred.
• Strong understanding of utility safety practices, excavation standards, and damage prevention requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility maps.
• Capable of working independently in the field and traveling to multiple locations daily.
• Experience with GPS instruments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor utility construction projects involving natural gas, electric, telecommunications, and municipal infrastructure.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with safety regulations, approved plans, specs, and standards.
• Serve as a third‑party representative of the utility owner to protect public safety and project quality.

The Utility Construction Inspector is responsible for inspecting and monitoring utility construction projects involving natural gas, electric, telecommunications, and municipal infrastructure. This position ensures all construction activities comply with safety regulations, approved plans, specifications, and applicable federal, state, local, and company standards. The inspector serves as a third-party representative of the utility or facility owner and plays a critical role in protecting public safety, infrastructure integrity, and project quality.

What it takes

• Strong understanding of utility safety practices, excavation standards, and damage prevention requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and utility maps.
• Comfortable working independently in the field and navigating multiple locations daily.
• Proficient with mobile technology and electronic reporting systems such as ArcGIS -Survey123 and/or Field Maps is preferred, but not required.
• Experience with GPS instruments such as Trimble and/or Topcon preferred, but not required.
