Role Description

The Utility Worker / Dishroom Operator is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient dishroom and kitchen environment in an on-site setting located in Overland Park, KS. Day-to-day tasks include operating dishwashing equipment, cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and food service equipment, and organizing clean items for use in meal service. The role also involves removing trash, recycling, and food waste, maintaining cleanliness of work areas, and assisting with basic food service duties such as tray assembly or stocking supplies. The Utility Worker / Dishroom Operator follows all safety, hygiene, and infection control guidelines, collaborates with the food service team, and supports a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing machines and related kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning, sanitizing, and food safety practices within a food service environment.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry dish racks or supplies, and perform repetitive tasks.
• Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety and infection control standards.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with kitchen and food service staff.
• Reliability in following schedules, instructions, and established procedures.
• Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or environmental services is preferred but not required.
