Indian River County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a semiskilled worker to assist in the maintenance, construction, and repair of water mains and related facilities. No prior experience is required and on-the-job training is provided to obtain required licenses.
The role requires a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and the ability to work under supervision, including after-hours on-call support.
Performs a variety of activities in the maintenance, construction, and repair of utility mains and facilities. This is a semiskilled position, working under the direct supervision of the immediate supervisor and crew leader. High School Diploma / GED. No experience is required. On the job training is provided to obtain required licenses. Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Overtime opportunities.

Knowledge of and skill in the use of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in pipe fitting.
Knowledge of the construction and repair of utility facilities.
Knowledge of water and sewer systems.
Ability to work from sketches, maps, and blueprints.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Good physical ability.
Strength to do heavy lifting and carrying and to work under adverse weather conditions.
Ability to operate various types of power tools and equipment used to install, maintain, or repair utility mains and services.
Ability to work on-call.
