Role Description

The Utilities Engineer is a full-time hybrid role based in New Brunswick, NJ, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing plant utility systems, including steam, water treatment, and wastewater treatment, to support safe, efficient, and compliant operations. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring system performance, troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating and executing preventive maintenance activities, and maintaining accurate documentation and operating procedures. The Utilities Engineer collaborates closely with operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to support reliability, implement improvements, and ensure adherence to regulatory and company standards. The position may also involve participation in projects to upgrade utilities infrastructure, support commissioning activities, and contribute technical input to capital planning.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with plant Utilities and utility system operations.
  • Proficiency in Steam systems, including boilers, distribution, and condensate recovery.
  • Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment processes and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of Water Treatment systems, including filtration, softening, and chemical treatment.
  • Experience with Preventive Maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution for utility equipment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and process data.
  • Familiarity with CMMS or similar maintenance management systems and basic MS Office skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work safely in industrial environments.
  • Experience in pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, or other regulated manufacturing environments is beneficial.
