  • Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills.
  • Passion for troubleshooting and developing maintenance technicians' skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Experience driving accountability with vendors and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems and uses manuals or parts catalogs to correct faults.
  • Manages distribution equipment, valves, actuators, and control devices as needed.
  • Coordinates ordering parts and managing contractors for utilities and facilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SCOPE:

The Utilities Engineer has overall responsibility for operation and maintenance of all utility systems as well as maintenance of the facility and grounds. High emphasis on proven proficiencies in leadership with duties that will involve preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance in a fast-paced demanding food and beverage manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
  • Promotes and practices safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times without compromise.
  • Experience with and in-depth knowledge of utility systems such as air compressors, water systems (RO, Soft, Domestic), HVAC, and with special emphasis on Chillers and Boilers.
  • Ensures efficient, reliable utility supply to the production lines.
  • Displays initiative to lead efforts to improve productivity. Develops an effective routine preventive maintenance program.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical problems and determines how to correct fault by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Knowledge of mechanical power transfer systems such as gear reducers, chain/belt drives, direct drives, bearings, shafts, and couplings
  • Knowledge of 480-volt three phase power distribution such as transformers, Motor Control Centers, power panels
  • Basic knowledge of 120 and 24-volt discrete control and 4-20mA analog control systems
  • Knowledge and experience with pneumatic operated control valve actuators and solenoid devices
  • General understanding of building repair methods: carpentry, painting, and drywall
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize different projects and workload. Proven ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers, management, contractors, and vendors.
  • Responsible for ordering parts and managing contractors for utilities and facilities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and weekends.
  • Must possess visual acuity to document company records.
  • Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center.
