Job summary

El Super is hiring a Utilities Clerk – #49 Long Beach. The role supports Produce and customer service, bagging and carrying groceries, and maintaining a clean store environment in a fast‑paced grocery setting.

Starting at $16.90 per hour, this position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and efficient service to our diverse community in Long Beach, CA. Previous PC/Outlook skills and a Retail Management Certificate are a plus.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑to‑one and small group settings to customers and coworkers.
• Apply common sense understanding to follow detailed but uncomplicated instructions.
• Able to lift and move up to 60 pounds on occasion.

Responsibilities

• Assist in store maintenance, especially in Produce, and help customers on the floor as needed.
• Bag groceries for customers and carry out groceries when requested.
• Maintain and retrieve store carts, run price checks, and assist with go‑backs.
• Support check stand upkeep and help remove waste from the parking area.
• Contribute to a clean, safe, fast‑paced store environment.

The Opportunity

To assist in the proper maintenance of the store, particularly in the Produce Department and assist customers on the store floor as needed. The Utilities Clerk will properly bag groceries for customers when needed. If requested, they will carry out groceries for customers. The Utilities Clerk is responsible for the store maintenance to ensure the store is clean and safe at all times. They will maintain and retrieve store carts, run price checks, assist with go‑backs, assist with check stand upkeep, and remove waste from the parking area.

The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
