Job summary

Benesch is expanding its transportation engineering practice in Utah and seeks a Roadway Project Engineer with a focus on planning, design, and construction of transportation infrastructure for public agencies.

The successful candidate will prepare and review plans, specifications, contract documents, and estimates. Mentoring and supervising junior staff, along with coordinating with team members and stakeholders, are key responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
• Ability to work and collaborate in a team on challenging projects.

• Experience with UDOT or municipalities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed road design from preliminary to final stages.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define data needs and project outputs.
• Prepare and review plans, specs, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Mentor and supervise junior technical staff on assignments.
• Coordinate with reviewers to ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
• Contribute to proposal development and project documentation.
• Assist Project Managers in delivering small to mid-size projects.

Roadway Project Engineer

We have a career opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer to be part of an established service line at Benesch focused on enhancing transportation infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have the expertise or an interest in furthering their career focused on planning, engineering design, and the construction of transportation infrastructure for public agencies.

The successful candidate will prepare, and review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates related to a variety of transportation projects. Project Engineers also mentor and supervise the work of technical support personnel assigned to the project.

Location

This position offers flexibility within Utah. Benesch is expanding into Utah, and whether you are on the Wasatch Front or in Southern Utah, we encourage you to apply and join us in this exciting expansion.

The Impact You Will Have

• Developing detailed designs of urban and rural roadways from preliminary to final design
• Collaborating with team members, communities, and stakeholders to define data needs, project requirements, and outputs to develop applications
• Compiling and coordinating plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items
• Supporting studies and alternative analysis to determine best solutions to meet compliance and client goals
• Working with various disciplines and reviewers to ensure complete, accurate, and high-quality deliverables
• Contribute to proposal development
• Managing small projects, project tasks, and assisting Project Managers in overall large project delivery
• Manage and maintain project documentation

What You Will Need

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or higher, is required
• Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
• Experience working with UDOT and/or municipalities
• Proficient with Microstation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and complex modeling design
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Utah Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain upon hire (Preferred)
• Project experience in transportation engineering design (Preferred)
• Digital delivery and alternate delivery experience preferred
