Job summary

SeAH Steel USA is seeking an UT Operator to operate and assist in ultrasonic testing of pipe material according to plant policies. You will ensure safe, compliant operation during your shift and support quality control objectives.

Responsibilities include running in-line UT equipment daily, reporting non-conformances, aiding root-cause investigation, and performing daily prove-ups on rejected material. Strong knowledge of ASNT and API requirements is expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Training in Ultrasonics and Quality.
  • UT Level 1 or Level 2 certification required.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good arithmetic skills
  • 2 years QC experience preferred.
  • Manual dexterity for operating machinery and handheld tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and welding operations.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word and databases; Track-Pro preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operation of in-line UT inspection equipment.
  • Reporting of all Non-conformances and any potential quality issues.
  • Helping problem solve any quality issues on line.
  • Primary function is to perform all daily prove-up on rejected material.
  • Knowledge of SeAH SOPs.
  • Perform all applicable inspection functions to the requirements of ASNT SNT-TC-1A and API.
  • Separate pipe that needs further evaluation (prove-up) ensuring material is properly segregated.
  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed to be processed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Detection of defects inherent to various steel making and pipe manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct inspection to ensure quality, detect discontinuities using ultrasonic equipment.
  • Accurate process of paperwork and test results.
  • Determine if pipe does/does not meet SeAH specifications.
  • Report any discrepancies in reports to QC Auditor / Mill Supervisor.
  • Ensure proper procedures and paperwork is being used and utilized.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Competencies
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Training in Ultra Sonics and Quality.
  • Must have a Level 1 or Level 2 UT certification.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good arithmetic skills are required.
  • 2 years’ Quality Control experience is preferred.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and handheld technical devices.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and welding operation.
  • General proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word and Databases, Track-Pro System (is preferred)
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for a minimum of 8 hours and lift 50lbs.
  • The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
