Job summary

Plantible Foods is seeking a USP Operator to work outdoors in a greenhouse, handling routine cultivation tasks, biomass harvesting, and data entry to support protein extraction.

The role emphasizes safety, GMP/HACCP/OSHA compliance, and collaboration with the pilot plant team; requires basic math, ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to work varied shifts. This is a temporary 3-month position with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Experience in greenhouse, food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• Ability to convert standard units of measurement.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to stand 8+ hours, lift 50 lbs, and work flexible shifts.
• Experience with chemical processing or automated control systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of hydroponics/aquaponics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and non-routine cultivation operations including biomass harvesting and nutrient management.
• Monitor greenhouse environmental conditions and plant health.
• Follow SOPs and ensure data collection/entry is accurate.
• Collaborate with pilot plant team for harvesting and processing workflows.
• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with safety standards.
• Work in hot, humid environments and support equipment maintenance as needed.
• Support GMP/HACCP/OSHA compliance and quality controls.

Job description

How you will contribute:

The USP Operator will be working outdoors in a greenhouse environment and is responsible for routine greenhouse and cultivation operations, including knowledge of hydroponics/aquaponics, harvesting, and data collection. This individual will have the opportunity to make an immediate and sustainable impact in the development of the company by ensuring that cultivation operations run smoothly and result in a consistent stream of high quality biomass for protein extraction.

This is a temporary position expected to last approximately 3 months, with a possibility of extension.

What you will be working on:

• Hands-on role to carry out routine and non-routine cultivation operations related to biomass harvesting, nutrient replenishment and application, pond cleanliness.
• Monitor greenhouse environmental conditions and Lemna plant health.
• Follow standardized operation procedures and complete data collection and entry.
• Collaborate with the pilot plant team for harvesting and maceration of plant biomass for processing.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Work in hot humid environments for extended periods of time.
• Assist with maintenance and repairs of equipment, as needed.
• Adhere to GMP/HACCP/OSHA/Food Safety Standards.
• Adjust and maintain chemical, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical control systems.

What you bring to Plantible:

• Some prior experience in greenhouses, food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Knowledge of safe work practices in a facility manufacturing environment.
• Experience in basic technical/mechanical manufacturing.
• Ability to do basic math functions (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• Must be able to convert standard units of measurement.
• Forklift Certification or the ability to complete certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to stand 8+ hours a day, reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift over 50 lbs.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early morning, evening or night shifts, as needed.
• Experience in chemical processing and automated control systems is a plus.
• Experience in hydroponics/aquaponics is a plus!
