Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Orange County CA is hiring a Used Goods Processor I for our Harbor Costa Mesa retail operation. You will process donated merchandise to keep store shelves stocked and ready for sale, including sorting, tagging, pricing, and packaging.

The role requires ability to stand long hours, lift up to 50 pounds, and communicate clearly in English. A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of activities related to processing donated merchandise including loading, unloading, sorting, inspecting, pricing, tagging, hanging, packaging and delivering goods.
• Processes store returns and prepares for shipment back to the main plant.
• Works to achieve production goals and maintains store organization and cleanliness.
• Assists customers and coworkers, may train participants, and follows safety rules and company policies.
• Overtime as required and reports incidents of theft or damages.

Purpose of Position:

To process donated goods in a timely manner to provide the retail stores with a sufficient amount of goods; to perform daily tasks related to the operation of a retail sales operation.

Supervision Received:

Reports directly to the Store Manager. Receives work direction from the Assistant Store Manager and Lead Sales Associate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of activities related to processing donated merchandise including (but not limited to): loading, unloading, sorting, inspecting, completing forms, pricing, tagging, hanging, packaging and delivering a variety of soft and hard goods. Processes store returns and prepares for shipment back to the main plant. Works efficiently in performing assigned job duties to achieve production goals. Asks questions if unsure about how to perform job duties. Performs housekeeping duties such as dusting fixtures and furniture, keeping the store merchandise well organized, keeping racks properly arranged, shelves neat, and floors swept as needed, including restrooms. Receives work and safety instructions and answers questions. Communicates with management, co-workers, program participants, and the public. Assists in training employees and program participants as required. May be trained to operate cash register, make change, complete credit card transactions, arrange monies for safekeeping, and answer the telephone and respond to customer inquiries. May assist customers in a courteous manner by answering questions and directing to dressing rooms, etc. as assigned. Works overtime as required. Performs other job related duties as required. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations. Follows all company policies and procedures. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.
