Job summary

Hendrick Honda (South Blvd) is seeking an experienced Used Car Technician to diagnose and repair a range of vehicles at our Charlotte area dealership. You will work toward preventing breakdowns and enhancing reliability while following OEM procedures and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has automotive technology training, a valid driver’s license, and a track record of completing manufacturer and ASE certifications. Excellent teamwork and strong communication with customers are essential.

Qualifications

  • Automotive technology training or equivalent required.
  • Thorough knowledge of automotive parts and mechanical systems.
  • Experience operating timekeeping systems and related software recommended.
  • Ability to meet ASE or equivalent manufacturer training requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair vehicles across various makes/models.
  • Ensure work aligns with OEM procedures and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and parts used.

An ideal Technician/Mechanic candidate should have knowledge in the automotive retail industry with a willingness to continue their training and certifications for a successful career.

Pay Range:

Pay Range: Up to $120,000 per year (based on factors such as Technician level, OEM certifications, and job performance).

Education/Experience:

Education/Experience: Automotive Technology, Vocational/Trade Certificate, High School Diploma or equivalent. Thorough knowledge of automotive parts and mechanical systems. Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge. Technical training or commensurate technical experience required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Certified/senior technician with respective manufacturer.
  • Meets and/or exceeds manufacturer requirements for ASE tests.
  • Completed manufacturer training to perform warranty repairs/recalls on most vehicles, PDI's, maintenance, and minor repairs.
Skills Requirements:

Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system. Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system. Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.

Attendance Expectations:

The position requires regular and predictable attendance in-person at an automotive dealership. Scheduled shifts are typically 5-days per week, rotating Saturdays, and may include holidays.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to (50) pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Environment Demands:

Duties are performed primarily in the automotive service area. Work includes movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and the safe operation of power tools and test equipment. May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service and repair conditions. Frequently interacts with customers, service advisors and the service manager.

Verbal and Writing Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations. Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.
