Job summary

Ken Garff Toyota Cheyenne is seeking a Used Car Technician to inspect, diagnose and repair used vehicles, and to perform thorough inspections ensuring retail standards. You’ll work with multiple makes and models, using diagnostic tools to resolve issues and complete high-quality reconditioning.

Candidates should have dealership experience or prior automotive repair background, ASE or manufacturer training is preferred, and a valid US driver’s license with a clean record.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of makes and models.
• Strong mechanical and electrical systems knowledge.
• Comfort with diagnostic tools, wiring diagrams, and service information.
• Prior automotive technician experience preferred; dealership experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair used vehicles to Ken Garff standards for retail sale.
• Perform thorough multi-point inspections and identify mechanical, electrical, safety, and cosmetic concerns.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems including brakes, suspension, steering, HVAC, electrical, drivetrain.
• Complete reconditioning repairs efficiently while maintaining high quality.
• Use diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and wiring diagrams to resolve concerns.

Looking for:

• Accommodating and analytical, while producing highly precise and accurate work
• Resourceful and able to diagnose and repair a wide variety of makes and models
• Approachable with a preference for detailed, skill-based work
• Prior automotive technician (mechanic) experience required
• Experience working on multiple makes and models strongly preferred
• ASE certifications or manufacturer training highly preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years or older and be authorized to work in the U.S. with a valid in-state driver's license and a good driving record, per company standards

What you’ll do as a Used Car Technician:

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair used vehicles to ensure they meet Ken Garff standards for retail sale
• Perform thorough multi-point inspections and identify mechanical, electrical, safety, and cosmetic concerns
• Diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, HVAC, electrical, drivetrain, and more
• Complete reconditioning repairs efficiently and accurately while maintaining high-quality standards
• Use diagnostic equipment, scan tools, service information, and wiring diagrams to identify and resolve concerns
• Perform maintenance and repairs across a wide range of makes and models
• Communicate repair needs and recommendations with the Used Car team and Service leadership
• Maintain cleanliness throughout your workspace and in all customer and inventory vehicles
• Complete required training and continue developing your technical skills

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Your own professional-grade tools
• Previous automotive repair experience at a dealership or independent shop
• Experience diagnosing and repairing multiple makes and models
• Strong understanding of automotive mechanical and electrical systems
• Good diagnostic skills and comfort with scan tools, wiring diagrams, and service information
• ASE certifications or manufacturer training preferred
• A valid driver's license and a good driving record, per company standards
