Job summary

Adecco Staffing is assisting a local company in Gloucester, MA to recruit a Material Buyer. The role offers a 1st shift, Monday–Friday 8am–5pm schedule with pay at $29 per hour.

The successful candidate will negotiate pricing, issue RFQs, manage supplier relationships, and collaborate with engineering to keep inventory at planned levels. Required is a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field, plus strong procurement software knowledge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, or related field.
  • Experience in purchasing or procurement and cost negotiation.
  • Proficiency with procurement software (SAP/SCV/ARIBA) and vendor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate pricing and terms; procure materials and services at the lowest cost while ensuring quality and delivery.
  • Issue RFQs, analyze proposals, negotiate prices and delivery, and manage purchase orders.
  • Lead purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Resolve material-related accounting and receiving issues and follow purchasing processes.

Job description

Adecco Staffing is assisting a local company in Gloucester, and we are seekingMaterial Buyers!

Hours: 1st Shift Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

Pay: $29

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiates pricing and other terms of purchase under supervision. Manage none strategic suppliers (none QFM)? $5M. Quotes materials; procures materials, components, equipment and services at the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need. Expedites and ensures the timely receipt of materials.
  • Works with engineering and MPM or SCM to recommend new suppliers. Issues RFQs, analyzes proposals, negotiates prices and delivery, issues and/or adjusts purchase orders in a timely manner. Follows-up on orders, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. Negotiates vendor contracts, as appropriate. Follows purchasing business processes.
  • Leads purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Leads problem resolution for material related accounting and receiving issues
Functional Knowledge
  • Demonstrates conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and purchasing strategies.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and logistics.
  • Familiarity with contract management and vendor relations.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Significant experience in purchasing or procurement.
  • Experience in a similar industry or with specific products relevant to the hiring organization may be required.

Bachelor’s Degree Required: Yes

A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field is typically preferred

Pay Details: $29.00 per hour
