Job summary

Walmart is hiring a General Facilities Maintenance Technician in Hibbing, MN to cover local and regional stores. You will perform routine maintenance, inspect facilities, and repair equipment across trades such as plumbing, electrical, and carpentry to uphold safety and operations.

You will work under the General Maintenance Manager, following schedules, documenting work orders, and responding promptly to emergency maintenance needs. A strong team ethic and commitment to quality are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires vocational or technical certification or 2 years of related work experience, or 4 years total in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trades.
• Valid driver’s license with clean MVR and ability to pass state checks.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, or wiring diagrams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets across multiple crafts using hand and power tools.
• Receive and document repair work orders and respond to urgent maintenance calls.
• Inspect, operate, or test facilities and equipment to diagnose issues.
• Complete safety training to operate tools and equipment.

Operating under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager, you'll adhere to established maintenance schedules and guidelines, conducting inspections, cleaning, and repairing facilities, equipment, or fixtures.

Position Requirements:

• 18 years or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Can lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
• Can move up and down ladders frequently
• Comfortable working at heights frequently
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Able to work in various temperatures.
• Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report
• Vocational or Technical certification and 1 year experience, or 2 years total work experience, in one of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trade

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets by utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs
• Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair Work Orders to support Stores and Store associates and document repair activities
• Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls
• Inspecting, operating, or testing facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues
• Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely

Compensation:

• Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, level of job offer, qualifications and other job-related factors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area. Option 2: 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area. Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report. Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years. Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program, Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). License in related trade in city and/or state where job is located, Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams., Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
